Pénélope Bagieu’s “Culottées” Exhibition Celebrates Rebel Women in Vaux-sur-Mer
An open-air exhibition showcasing the work of French comic artist Pénélope Bagieu, specifically her acclaimed series “Culottées” (translated as “Brazen: Rebel Ladies Who Rocked the World”), is currently on display in Vaux-sur-Mer, France, throughout March. The exhibition highlights women who challenged societal norms throughout history.
Celebrating Female Pioneers
The exhibition, installed in the town center, town hall park and sports park, features portraits and stories of women who defied expectations in various fields, including art, science, activism, sports, and even as warrior queens. It builds upon a previous exhibition, “Thanks to them” by Sophie Degano, presented in 2025, continuing the municipality’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of historically overlooked women.
