Orange & Bouygues Offer New SFR Property Deal

New twist in the SFR takeover affair! Orange, Free and Bouygues are ready to submit a new offer. The operators are accelerating the process to finalize the sale before the 2027 presidential election, after having already examined SFR’s accounts to secure the operation.

The SFR affair in a few words

Remember, the operators have already relaunched negotiations at the beginning of 2026 to acquire a large part of the activities of SFR, owned by the Altice group, after a first initiative made in 2025 which had been refused.

According to information relayed by BFM Business, another offer of around 20 billion euros should be considered, or several billion more than the initial proposal.

Despite this interest, no agreement has yet been reached, and the companies themselves emphasize that there is no certainty that the takeover will succeed. In the meantime, the Competition Authority had deemed a return to three operators before 2027 “very unlikely”.

However, a step has just been taken in this project and Orange, Free and Bouygues are ready to relaunch their offer.

The takeover of SFR relaunched

The sale of SFR is accelerating! According to the media La Lettre, Orange, Free and Bouygues Telecom spent five weeks examining the accounts and situation of SFR in order to ensure that everything is in order before a possible takeover. This will allow them to submit a new offer very soon.

We do not know the nature of the latter, but it could be that already mentioned by BFM Business; that is to say 20 billion euros for 80% of the operator’s assets.

Still according to La Lettre, the purchase of SFR is progressing quickly because of the political calendar: the operators and the government want everything to be completed before the presidential election of 2027, with the support of Emmanuel Macron to avoid the matter being complicated by the campaign.

To go more quickly, the companies spoke informally several times with the Competition Authority to prepare the file and resolve the problems in advance. The objective is to finalize this sale in less than a year.
