Magic Hand Kings Record 15th Straight Loss in Dominating 131-94 Victory

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Orlando Magic defeated the Sacramento Kings 131-94 on Thursday night, extending the Kings’ losing streak to a franchise-record 15 games. Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 30 points, while the team set a new franchise record with 27 three-pointers made.

Banchero Leads Magic to Victory

Paolo Banchero’s 30-point performance, including 5 of 7 shooting from beyond the arc, propelled the Magic to a decisive win. He also contributed six assists and five rebounds. Anthony Black added 20 points for Orlando, with Desmond Bane scoring 17, Jett Howard 16, and Jevon Carter 14. The Magic, currently seventh in the Eastern Conference, improved to 29-25 on the season.

Kings Continue to Struggle

The Kings’ defeat marks their 15th consecutive loss, surpassing their previous franchise record of 14 straight losses set in the 1959-60 and 1971-72 seasons when the team was known as the Cincinnati Royals. Sacramento is now 12-45, the worst record in the NBA, and has not won a game since January 16th against Washington.

Injuries Plague Kings

The Kings are playing without key players Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine, both of whom recently underwent season-ending surgeries. Sabonis suffered a meniscus tear in November, appearing in only 19 games this season, while LaVine had surgery to repair a tendon in his right pinky finger.

Magic’s Historic Three-Point Shooting

Orlando’s 27 three-pointers on 50 attempts broke the team’s previous record of 25, set on January 3, 2004, ironically also against the Kings in Sacramento. The Magic outscored the Kings 48-13 in the final 16:25 of the game, closing the third quarter with a 19-3 run to take a commanding lead.

Game Details

Maxime Raynaud led the Kings with 17 points, followed by Keegan Murray with 15, and Precious Achiuwa and Malik Monk with 14 each. The Magic dominated in fastbreak scoring, finishing with a 29-6 advantage, and scored 24 points off of 19 Sacramento turnovers.

The Magic continue their four-game road trip with a game against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. The Kings will embark on a five-game road trip, seeking to end their historic losing streak.
