The Bank of Russia has implemented changes to the compulsory motor liability insurance (OSAGO) system, introducing a wider tariff corridor of 15% in both directions. This adjustment aims to more accurately reflect driver risk profiles, possibly lowering insurance costs for safe drivers while increasing them for those wiht a history of violations and accidents.
The new system is designed to reward conscientious drivers with lower premiums and incentivize safer driving habits. Drivers who frequently violate traffic laws or are involved in accidents can expect to see an increase in their insurance costs.
Alongside the expanded tariff corridor, the bank of Russia has also revised territorial coefficients for various regions and cities. These coefficients reflect the local accident rates and claims history, impacting insurance prices accordingly.
Specifically, in the Kuzbass region, Novokuznetsk will maintain its existing territorial coefficient of 1.64. However, residents of Kemerovo will benefit from reduced OSAGO premiums due to a lowered territorial coefficient. The coefficient for Kemerovo has been reduced from 1.72 to 1.62.
