Security Guard Seriously Injured in Oslo Assault

A security guard is in serious condition after being attacked by two individuals near Oslo Central Station on Wednesday evening, March 4, 2026. The incident occurred while the guard was attempting to intervene in a situation involving two men pursuing a third person.

Details of the Incident

According to Tor Gulbrandsen, operations manager for the Oslo Police District, the security guard attempted to assist someone being chased by two other individuals. Instead of intervening peacefully, the two pursuers turned on the guard, subjecting him to a violent assault.

“The guard has tried to intervene in an incident where two men are looking for a third person. They then went off guard instead,” Gulbrandsen stated to VG.

The guard sustained injuries from both punches and kicks to the head and body and was found lying on the ground. He has been transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is currently conscious, though his condition is considered serious, police reported.

Ongoing Investigation

The perpetrators fled the scene immediately after the assault and remain at large. Police have described their descriptions as vague and are currently working to secure evidence, gather witness statements, and review video surveillance footage from the area.

“We have a good number of patrols in the area now, who are working on the case,” Gulbrandsen added.

Authorities are also in contact with the individual the guard was attempting to aid, but have not yet determined the circumstances that led to the initial chase.

The incident was reported to police at 10:38 p.m. On Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
