Dr. james Wise to be Inducted into OSU Hall of Fame
Stillwater, OK – February 4, 2026 – Dr. James Wise, a distinguished ophthalmologist, dedicated philanthropist, and Oklahoma agricultural leader, will be inducted into the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Hall of Fame on February 13, 2026. the ceremony will honor Wise’s important contributions to medicine,agriculture,and OSU.
Dr. Wise enjoyed a celebrated career in ophthalmology, spanning nearly five decades. He authored 34 publications and shared his expertise through lectures in over a dozen countries, receiving numerous awards and recognitions for his advancements in the field.
Beyond his medical achievements, Wise demonstrated a commitment to preserving Oklahoma’s agricultural heritage. In 2010, he acquired stillwater Milling Company, preventing its sale to a large corporation and safeguarding its local character. Under his guidance, Stillwater Milling, Oklahoma’s largest cattle feed producer, has undergone ample improvements in production capacity, operational efficiency, and product quality.
Dr. and Mrs. Wise’s dedication to OSU is particularly noteworthy. Inspired by the remarkable care they received at OSU’s Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, they generously donated $2 million to establish the James and Elizabeth Wise Endowed Chair of Veterinary Ophthalmology. This endowment supports cutting-edge research and education within the College of Veterinary Medicine, furthering OSU’s land-grant mission and ensuring high-quality veterinary eye care throughout Oklahoma.
The Wises are also long-time supporters of the Edmon Low Library, OSU scholarships, the Wildlife Care Fund, and other university initiatives.dr. Wise is a life member of the OSU Alumni Association.
