Freshman Jeremiah Patton was a standout performer, earning both Men’s Athlete of the Championship and Freshman of the Year honors.
Coach’s Perspective
Head coach J.P. Behnke expressed excitement about the opportunity. “This is an exciting opportunity to open the outdoor season against some of the top programs in the country,” Behnke said. “Competing at LSU for the first time, we expect a great environment, strong competition, and ideal weather conditions that will help bring out the best in our team. Even this early in the season, I believe we have athletes capable of qualifying for nationals.”
Team Report
Most of the Trojans roster will compete this weekend, with the distance group preparing for the WashU Distance Carnival next week. Graduate standout TaVieon Neal will lead the sprints team, returning exclusively for the outdoor season after completing his indoor eligibility. Neal is a top 100-meter runner for the program and has contributed to multiple school records.
With a strong returning core and confidence from the indoor season, the Trojans aim to build momentum toward another OVC Championship run.
