Not having a Pennsylvania team in Super Bowl LX certainly had an impact on how many in the state placed a bet on the game.
According to a statement from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, there was a 41% decrease in wagers placed in the commonwealth on this year’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.
Just over $59 million was wagered on the game with Pennsylvania sportsbooks a year after setting a record with $101 million wagered on the Super Bowl LIX when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs.

Pennsylvania sportsbooks did make a profit on this year’s game, bringing in over $18 million in revenue. Sportsbooks lost money on Super Bowl LIX with Pennsylvanians putting money on the Eagles to win the game, which they did 40-22. Sportsbooks lost more than $6 million on last year’s game.

Figures show that 90% of the money on this year’s matchup between the Seahawks and Patriots was wagered through online sites.
The $18 million in revenue is the second largest amount raked in by Pennsylvania sportsbooks over the last five Super Bowls. In 2023, when the Eagles lost to Kansas City 38-35, PA sportsbooks made more than $29 million on the Super Bowl.
