Pakistan’s Diplomatic Influence Sparks Concern in India
Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role in de-escalating regional tensions, particularly in the Middle East, is drawing concern from India, according to recent statements from Pakistani officials. The international community is increasingly acknowledging Pakistan’s efforts, while Indian media outlets are reportedly critical of their government’s diminishing influence on the global stage.
Pakistan’s Rising Global Profile
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated on Thursday, March 26, 2026, that India appears “uneasy” over Pakistan’s active diplomacy in the Middle East. As reported by The Nation, Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s growing influence and the international recognition of its diplomatic initiatives.
Pakistan Television reports that Tarar described India as experiencing “extreme frustration” due to Pakistan’s increasing diplomatic relevance, particularly as Islamabad positions itself as a key mediator in the ongoing Middle East conflict. He attributed these gains to a “strong partnership” between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir.
Daily Times also reported on Tarar’s statements, highlighting Pakistan’s achievements and national interests.
International Recognition of Pakistan’s Efforts
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has stated that the world acknowledges Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the prevailing regional situation. According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar noted that Indian media is criticizing the Modi regime, suggesting New Delhi is becoming increasingly irrelevant in global affairs.
Tarar highlighted Pakistan’s vocal stance on Palestine and its role regarding Iran, emphasizing the country’s ability to navigate complex relationships while protecting strategic ties. He also pointed to Pakistan’s economic recovery as part of its broader resurgence on the international stage.
Domestic Considerations
Tarar also addressed internal political dynamics, criticizing individuals he claimed were involved in conspiracies against the country while it achieves diplomatic milestones. He asserted that national interests must be prioritized above all else and that disrespecting the country under the guise of political opposition is unacceptable.
He referenced the case of the children of a PTI founder, noting they were permitted to visit Pakistan using National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis but continued to seek alternative means of entry.
