Recording Process and Personal Grief Behind the Music
The band wrote Amsterdamage throughout 2025 during a relentless touring schedule, developing the material across the San Diego coastline and the Netherlands before completing the record in producer Chris Greatti’s Los Angeles studio, according to metalplanetmusic.com. The creative process took on added emotional weight following the 2024 death of the brothers’ mother, Stephanie Rachel, from cancer.

Drummer Emerson Barrett explained the unifying impact of the project, stating via metaltalk.net: I think if we didn’t have this album, we would have all kind of gone separate ways. After losing our mother, this is our phoenix rising from the ashes. Each one of us took our own paths in dealing with death, and rejoined not only as individuals, but with our partners, and as brothers. This creative bond was the thing that kept us together.
Vocalist Remington Leith noted that the single “Lost In Translation” draws on mid-2000s Brit rock influences, explaining via metaltalk.net: We felt pretty nostalgic writing this one. It took us back to the music we grew up on which was a lot of mid 2000s Brit rock bands. We wanted something upbeat and one that would go crazy live but the lyrics represent wanting to make something work so bad, whether it be a dream or a relationship and it seems like something is in the way of it working out and trying to push through at any cost.
