Swedish Paralympic Team Announces Expanded Squad for Milan-Cortina 2026
the swedish Paralympic Committee has announced a notable expansion of its team set to compete at the Paralympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy, from March 6th to 15th, 2026. Nine athletes have been added to the roster,bringing the total number of Swedish athletes preparing for the games to fifteen.
The newly selected athletes include alpine skier Arvid Skoglund, and a strong contingent of cross-country skiers: Ellen westerlund, Alice Morelius, and Arnt-Christian Furuberg – all of whom will be making their Paralympic debuts. The team is further bolstered by the addition of wheelchair curling players Viljo Petersson Dahl (skipper), kristina Ulander, Ronny Persson, Sabina Johansson, and Marcus Holm.
These additions join previously announced team members Ebba Årsjö (alpine skiing), Aaron lindström (alpine skiing), and Zebastian Modin (cross-country skiing) who will be guided by Emil Talsi.
“It makes me very happy and proud to be able to introduce three debutants to the Swedish squad,” stated Niclas Grön, the team’s leader, in a press release. “It’s been over 20 years as we had such a large national cross-country team at the Paralympics, which proves that our long-term investments are starting to pay off.”
Sweden enjoyed a prosperous Paralympic Winter Games in 2022,achieving its best results in two decades with a total of two gold,two silver,and three bronze medals. The team will be looking to build on this success in Milan-Cortina.
