The Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has officially inaugurated its leadership structure for the 2026–2031 term. The announcement, delivered Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the organization’s Central Jakarta headquarters, confirmed the appointment of Gudfan Arif as Secretary General and Ainun Na’im as General Treasurer.
A New Executive Guard in Central Jakarta
The new board comprises 210 members. This marks an increase of 21 seats over the 189-member administration that followed the Muktamar in Lampung.
Continuity Under Spiritual Oversight
Katib Aam Mohammad Nuh presented the official decree, PBNU Decree Number 2/PB.01/A.II.01.01/99/09/2026. The document confirms that the leadership remains under the spiritual guidance of Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar.
The Tanfidziyah, or executive board, is led by Chairman Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, better known as Gus Kikin. He is joined by a team of seven Deputy Chairmen: Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), Muhammad Faiz Syukron, Ganefri, Muhammad Lukman Edy, Abdul Ghoffar Rozin, Juri Ardiantoro, and Irfan Asy’ari Sudirman Wahid.
Strategic Expansion for Broader Representation
Gus Kikin confirmed that the board’s expansion to 210 members was a deliberate shift. The leadership sought to balance the composition by integrating early generations with younger leaders, while incorporating representatives from internal institutions like IPNU, IPPNU, and Ansor.
“We want to balance all three elements, added to other components, so that everything is balanced,” Gus Kikin explained during his address.
From Jombang Consensus to Five-Year Mandate
The current term stems from the 35th Muktamar held in Jombang, East Java, on August 31, 2026. At that assembly, the Ahlul Halil Wal Aqdi (AHWA) reached a consensus to appoint Gus Kikin as Chairman.
The decision followed a preliminary voting process where delegates narrowed the field of candidates. Gus Kikin secured the highest number of votes, receiving 472 from the muktamirin. The new board is now tasked with overseeing the institution’s administrative and organizational duties for the next five years.
