Is it getting any worse now?
After BILD revealed at the beginning of January that penis size also plays a role in ski jumping, the story went around the world. Even countries where ski jumping doesn’t really play a role, such as England, Australia and Brazil, reported on the penis vortex.
Now the Wada (World Anti-Doping Agency) is also getting involved. At the Olympic Games in Italy, Wada President Witold Banka (41) said: “Ski jumping is very popular in Poland, my home country. I assure you that I will look into this matter.”
Director General Olivier Niggli (55) is quoted by the BBC as saying: “I don’t know the details of ski jumping and I don’t know how it could improve performance. If something were to come to light, we would look at it and see if it had anything to do with doping. We don’t deal with other forms of performance improvement.”

Before the season, each jumper was measured with a 3D scanner and the step size was determined, which starts at the lowest point in the genital area. This value is used as the basis for the suit for the season. If you succeed in moving this point downwards, you automatically get more suit surface – which brings buoyancy advantages.
Penis tricks while ski jumping
For a few millimeters of material, there are even said to be jumpers who have resorted to hyaluronic acid to “inject” their penis before the measurement.
Foam that is placed around the testicles is also said to have been used in the past. When taking measurements, the jumpers wear underpants.
Since the suit scandal in March 2025, when the Norwegians were convicted of cheating during the World Cup in Trondheim, ski jumping has been rigorously cracked down. FIS material director Mathias Hafele (42) sanctions millimeter deviations in measurements.
Hafele recently told BILD: “I can rule out that attempts are being made to enlarge the genitals using visible aids. Medical staff are present during the measurement and they check very carefully.”
The expert, who has been working in a variety of positions in the ski jumping circus for almost two decades, emphasizes: “But we are already working in the background on methods to improve this difficult topic.”
The aim should be that the bony structure is crucial for the measurement and not the soft tissue. To do this, the 3D scanner method must be modified. Then the penis size no longer plays a role.
