PepsiCo South Africa Launches AI-Powered Platform to Support Fashion Creatives
PepsiCo South Africa has introduced “Naks Level” by NikNaks, an innovative AI-powered chatbot on WhatsApp designed to mentor and upskill South African fashion creatives. The platform, launched in early 2026, builds upon the success of the #OwnYourNak campaign initiated in 2023, which focused on celebrating youth originality and self-expression through bursary awards.
Naks Level: A Digital Mentor in Your Pocket
Naks Level aims to provide accessible guidance and resources to emerging fashion talent in South Africa. The chatbot functions as a virtual mentor, offering challenges and knowledge sharing to help creatives elevate their skills and pursue their passions. Users can access the platform by sending “Hello” to +27 83 693 5018 via WhatsApp.
Collaboration with Industry Expert
The platform is guided by Vusumuzi Ndima, likewise known as Bob The Stylist, the Founder and Creative Director of Boys of Soweto, a fashion brand known for blending township culture with contemporary design. Ndima’s expertise and insights will be central to the mentorship experience offered through Naks Level.
Building on the #OwnYourNak Campaign
The launch of Naks Level represents a continuation of PepsiCo South Africa’s commitment to supporting the creative community. The #OwnYourNak campaign, which began in 2023, rewarded young South Africans for embracing their individuality and awarded bursaries to promising students. PepsiCo South Africa highlighted the importance of self-expression and originality.
PepsiCo South Africa’s Commitment to the South African Snack Market
PepsiCo South Africa produces 2.6 billion packets of chips annually, equating to approximately 5,000 packets consumed every minute. Brands under the PepsiCo South Africa umbrella include Simba, Doritos, Lay’s, NikNaks, Fritos, and Safari. The company’s General Manager of Snacks, Gareth Haarhoff, leads a team dedicated to innovation and delivering popular snack brands to the South African market.
Brand Engagement and Recognition
