Perplexity AI launches Shopping Feature, Secures U.S.Government Deal

Perplexity AI announced a new partnership with the U.S. government and a free shopping feature for U.S. users on Wednesday (Nov. 19).

The shopping experience will be available to U.S. users next week, according to perplexity Chief Business Officer dmitry Shevelenko, who spoke with CNBC.

Shevelenko explained that most people like to do their own research. This new feature lets them do just that, then seamlessly purchase items directly from the search results. It’s about making the buying process easier.

Eventually, users will be able to buy from around 5,000 merchants through Perplexity’s search engine.

The U.S. General Services Management (GSA) also announced a first-of-its-kind agreement with Perplexity on Wednesday.

This “OneGov” agreement will give federal agencies secure, enterprise-level AI research and drafting tools at a significantly reduced price, as detailed in a news release.
