Philips expanded its display lineup, announcing the Philips Evnia 36M4C5500P as the world’s first 36-inch gaming monitor, according to a press release distributed by PR Newswire. The new screen bridges the gap between standard ultrawide monitors and large television-sized displays, targeting gamers who want expansive screen real estate without moving to a bulky chassis.
36M4C5500P features 260Hz refresh rate and VA panel
The 36M4C5500P features a 36-inch curved fast VA 1500R panel with an Ultra-Wide QHD resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. According to the company announcement, the display supports an overclockable refresh rate of 260Hz, a 0.3ms motion picture response time, and reaches 500 nits of HDR peak brightness. The hardware also carries a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification for enhanced contrast and color depth.
For gaming performance, the monitor includes proprietary features such as Smart MBR Sync to reduce motion blur and ghosting, alongside ShadowBoost to brighten dark in-game areas without clipping highlights. Additional built-in tools include Smart Crosshair and Smart Sniper modes designed for first-person shooters. Connectivity options comprise dual HDMI 2.1 ports and DisplayPort 1.4, paired with a MultiView function for simultaneous dual connections and a height-adjustable stand supporting tilt and swivel.
