Agricultural cooperatives in Phu Quy are transforming local fruit production by deploying advanced grafting, budding, and branch-grafting methods alongside VietGAP-certified cultivation standards. The community reports that these upgrades are designed to elevate crop varieties, boost fruit quality, and spread safe, ecological farming practices throughout the region.
This push toward high-tech farming tackles enduring vulnerabilities in the local agricultural sector. Production has historically stayed small-scale and uneven in quality, with funding for preservation and high-tech processing remaining restricted. To break this cycle, the community is urging farmers to embrace mechanization, plant high-yielding varieties, and cultivate VietGAP-compliant orchards.
Targeting Longan Yields with VietGAP and Nano-Silver
Producers are rolling out technical solutions to drive up yields and fruit safety. The Mien Thiet Longan Cooperative currently oversees more than 15 hectares of longan plantations under VietGAP protocols.
Cooperative Director Nguyen Van Lap explained that pairing these standards with nano-silver preparations strengthens antibacterial and antifungal defenses, beats back pests and diseases, and cuts down chemical pesticide use.
Upgrading Citrus Stocks Through Advanced Grafting
Meanwhile, the Phu Quy Agricultural Product Cooperative is using grafting and budding to swap out lower-yielding orange and lemon trees for superior stock. For the Australian yellow lemon variety, the cooperative relies on targeted practices.
These methods involve grafting seedlings onto grapefruit trees, fertilizing with finely ground soybean meal and well-rotted manure, and using biological plant protection products that omit synthetic herbicides.
Renewing Aging Trees for Stable Productivity
Phu Quy Agricultural Product Cooperative Director Nguyen Huu Ha emphasized that these specialized techniques successfully renew older tree stocks while delivering stable productivity and better fruit quality.
Building on these gains, local agricultural authorities intend to keep pushing technological adoption across the municipality.
Expanding Mechanization and Supermarket Supply Chains
The strategy moving forward involves widening mechanization, setting up dedicated high-tech fruit-growing zones, and tightening supply chain links between production sites and consumer markets.
