JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina Reveal Production Tensei NSX
The JAS Tensei by Pininfarina made its public debut on October 8, 2026, marking a complete coachbuilt redesign of the iconic Mk1 Honda NSX originally previewed by the 1984 HP-X concept. Revealed in production form, the limited-run supercar pairs a heavily modified 3.4-litre V6 engine developed by JUDD Power with a carbon fibre body styled by Pininfarina, featuring the original model’s signature pop-up headlights.
JUDD Power expands Honda engine displacement to 3.4 litres
Under the engine cover, the original Honda 3.0-litre block retains its factory angle while displacement expands to 3.4 litres through a new short-stroke steel crank. JUDD Power fitted lightweight alloy heads with aggressive cams and titanium valves, removing the factory VTEC system in favor of a fixed-timing racing valvetrain and individual throttle bodies. The naturally aspirated engine revs to 8,500rpm and uses a carbon fibre intake plenum alongside an Inconel exhaust system designed to mimic 1990s Grand Prix engines. Mounted 45mm lower in the chassis, the engine pairs with a dry sump system, a scavenge pump, a six-speed gearbox, and a limited-slip differential to deliver 414bhp to the rear wheels.
Pininfarina builds carbon fibre body for Tensei
Pininfarina constructed the Tensei’s entire body out of carbon fibre, keeping the dry weight down to 1,250kg while adopting a wider and slightly longer stance than the factory NSX. The exterior preserves the iconic pop-up headlights through an ultra-fast servo-assisted opening system equipped with impact sensors and titanium kinematics. Downforce management relies on internal airflow routed through the nose, wheels, and engine intakes rather than conspicuous external wings. JAS Motorsport reinforced the original aluminum chassis at the A-pillars, B-pillars, and central tunnel, adding new suspension geometry, four-way adjustable KW dampers, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and an analog-tuned electric power steering system.

JAS Motorsport limits Tensei production to 35 units
Inside the cabin, the layout swaps factory 1990s plastics for a carbon fibre single-piece dash, leather and black Alcantara inserts, carbon fibre Sabelt seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and modern OLED displays. JAS Motorsport will limit production of the Tensei to just 35 units worldwide. Pricing starts at £770,000, which excludes the required donor car and local value-added taxes.
