Google Clock and Pixel Weather Receive Updates with Latest Icons and Widget Tweaks

Google has rolled out updates to both Pixel Weather and the Google Clock app (version 8.6), introducing a refreshed visual experience and minor functional improvements. These updates, which began rolling out last week, focus on icon design and widget usability, exclusively for Pixel devices.

Pixel Weather Widget Enhancements

The latest version of Pixel Weather (1.2.20251230.x) includes sizing adjustments to the “Forecasted weather” widget. These tweaks increase padding, addressing some visual bugs and improving the overall aesthetic. Specifically:

  • At a 5×3 widget size, the line previously appearing at the bottom for tomorrow’s forecast has been removed.
  • A 5×4 widget now displays two days of forecast information, compared to three in previous versions.
  • A 5×5 widget shows four days of forecast information, down from five.

While these changes result in displaying less information, the increased spacing contributes to a cleaner and more visually appealing widget.

Colorful Icons Arrive in Google Clock

The updated icon set initially introduced with Pixel Weather is now available in the Google Clock app. The World Clock feature now utilizes colorful icons, a departure from the previous monochrome set. This change reverses a design decision made in version 7.14 of the app last June.

Minor Update to Google Calculator

Alongside the updates to Weather and Clock, Google has too released a small update to Google Calculator (version 9.1). However, no apparent changes have been identified in this release.

The Google Clock update is currently rolling out via the Play Store. These updates continue Google’s commitment to refining the user experience on Pixel devices.
