Late-Night High-Speed Destruction in Pleasant View
Little of the sports car remained to identify its make. A Lamborghini was completely destroyed by fire late Saturday night after striking two vehicles and crashing into a gas pump in Pleasant View, Tennessee. The vehicle sustained such extensive damage that Assistant Chief Trey Nelms with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department noted it was difficult to identify it as a Lamborghini.
The incident occurred at a gas station located at Highway 41A and Maxey Road, which carries a Cedar Hill address. Firefighters were initially dispatched to a vehicle crash at the location, but crews were advised en route that the sports car was on fire. According to Nelms, the Lamborghini left the roadway, struck a car and a truck, and then plowed into a gas pump, knocking one of the pumps over before catching fire. Bystanders pulled the unconscious driver from the burning vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency responders.
Intense Flames Threaten Fuel Station Canopy
When Pleasant View’s Squad 1 arrived at the scene, the Lamborghini was heavily involved in flames, with intense heat melting portions of the nearby gas pumps and the overhead canopy. Firefighters immediately activated the emergency shutoff for the fuel pumps, preventing the gasoline from the pumps from igniting. Nelms confirmed that gasoline from the pumps did not become involved in the fire.
Three vehicles in total were involved in the collision: the Lamborghini, a passenger vehicle, and a truck.
Multi-Agency Response at Highway Intersection
A multi-agency response deployed to the scene, including the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasant View Police Department, and Cheatham County EMS. Personnel from Homeland Security were also present at the location, though officials noted they may have already been in the area.
College Student Survives Crash After Possible Medical Emergency
Following the rescue by bystanders, the driver regained consciousness and refused medical transport. Fire officials identified the driver as an Austin Peay State University college student, and local news partner WKRN News 2 reported that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency leading up to the crash. Reports suggested the vehicle was a rental used in connection with homecoming, though Smokey Barn News noted those specific details could not be independently verified.
