Poissy Pushes Stellantis Land for New 80,000-Seat Paris Saint-Germain Stadium
The Paris Saint-Germain stadium search has drawn a formal bid from local officials in Poissy to host a new 80,000-seat arena on land currently owned by automaker Stellantis. The Paris-area commune, which already hosts the club’s training center, wants to build what it describes as a unique multisite setup by 2035. L’Équipe reported the details of the letter sent to the club and regional authorities.
Yvelines Leaders Detail the Stellantis Proposal
The push comes as Paris Saint-Germain weighs its stadium options before a decision expected by the end of the year. Yvelines department president Pierre Bédier, urban community president Cécile Zammit-Popescu, and Poissy mayor Sandrine Berno Dos Santos signed the letter outlining the pitch. The signatories argue that placing the arena on part of the Stellantis site would create a dense multisite club footprint unlike any other in Europe. The proposal also promises that the general council of the Yvelines would ease land acquisition while helping preserve 2,000 jobs at Stellantis if the club selects the location.
Rival Bids and the Parc des Princes in the Balance
Poissy is competing directly against a rival proposal from Massy in the Essonne department. Meanwhile, the historic Parc des Princes remains in the running despite the club’s desire for a larger venue. Paris Saint-Germain announced a week ago that it would finalize its stadium site decision by the close of the year. Local officials in Poissy are using their existing ties—anchored by the training facility opened in 2023—to press their advantage in the ongoing venue race.
