Pokémon Pokopia Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 with Limited-Time Event
Pokémon Pokopia, the cozy life-simulation game, is now available on Nintendo Switch 2 as of March 5, 2026. Alongside the launch, The Pokémon Company is hosting its first limited-time event, “More Spores for Hoppip,” offering exclusive content for players.
A New Pokémon Adventure
In Pokémon Pokopia, players take on the role of a Ditto transformed into a human, tasked with rebuilding a desolate world into a thriving utopia. The game centers around crafting, collecting materials, and befriending Pokémon to create a welcoming environment. Developed by Game Freak and Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, Pokopia marks a new direction for the Pokémon franchise.
“More Spores for Hoppip” Event Details
The “More Spores for Hoppip” event runs from Monday, March 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. To Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 12:59 p.m. PDT. During this period, players can befriend Hoppip and collect special cotton spores. These spores can be exchanged for picnic-themed furniture, which can then be used to attract Skiploom and Jumpluff. These Pokémon are exclusively available during the event.
Explore a Player-Created Town
To celebrate the launch, The Pokémon Company has shared a city code – PXQC G03S – created by the official @poke_times account. Players with Nintendo Switch Online can visit this town using Mysterious Glasses, obtainable from the in-game store for 100 Poké Life coins.
Development Insights
Pokémon Pokopia’s development involved a collaborative effort between Game Freak and Koei Tecmo/Omega Force, with contributions from Koei Tecmo’s Tianjin, Beijing, Singapore, and Vietnam divisions, as well as Digital Hearts. Shigeru Ohmori, known for his work on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, served as the senior director and conceptual lead. Takuto Edagawa, development director of Dragon Quest Builders 2, was the head director, with Tatsuto Tsuchishita (Koei Tecmo) and Teruyuki Shimoyamada (Game Freak) also serving as directors.
Marina Ayano of Koei Tecmo was the artistic director, mirroring her role in Dragon Quest Builders 2. Hiromu Akaba composed the game’s music, with contributions from Jieun Kim.
Pricing and Availability
Pokémon Pokopia is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. The digital version is priced at $69.99, even as the physical edition (game key card format) costs $79.99. A Pokémon Pokopia notebook is also available on the My Nintendo Store for 500 My Nintendo platinum points.
