Debt Collectors Attacked in Kalibata

Police report a beating of two debt collectors, known as “eagle eyes” or “metal,” occurred in the Taman Makam Pahlawan (TMP) Kalibata area of South Jakarta. The incident stemmed from a dispute over unpaid motorbike credit.

“This afternoon and evening, we investigated after debt collectors attempted too repossess a motorbike due to missed payments,” stated South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Nicolas Ary Lilipaly to reporters on Friday, December 12th.

Lilipaly explained that the situation escalated,leading to the assault on the debt collectors. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and working to identify those responsible. He didn’t provide details on the extent of the collectors’ injuries.

The police are urging individuals with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. They also remind citizens that resolving debt disputes should occur through legal channels, not violence.
