Blinders’ 100 Percent Record Ends in Derby Defeat

Port St Mary Legion returned to the top as the Blinders’ 100 per cent record in the Mann Crane Hire Snooker League came to an end, beaten by the Masters in a Cue Zone derby match.

Ivan McMaw 49-53 David Hill – Dave had the worst start imaginable in this one, 43-1 down but managing to produce a very solid recovery and eventually winning on the black after Ivan whent in-off shooting a straight pot! Jez Hill 35-11 Harry Ellis – A frustrating evening for Harry as he couldn’t get going, Jez pulling the win out of a very low scoring affair. Brendan Clague 65-54 Alex Kennedy – Alex looked up for this one, in control for the most part until a miscue while snookered on the last red saw him hit the black. The tide turned from there, Brendan pulling out some grate pots. Tommy Clague 94-59 scott Campion – Scott did okay, chipping away at a 56 deficit. Still 15 behind on the blue and in a snooker, Scott missed his attempted escape and couldn’t manage to get the snooker required. Tommy did well to pot the blue and pink and finish the job. Les briggs 106-71 Darryl Hill – darryl, (21 break) looked to have an 84 chase in his sights until the last red when he missed a blue to the middle leaving him 20 behind with 27 on. Les took yellow and green to leave a snooker required. Les eventually floated in the pink to confirm the win.
Finch Hill Mob 2-3 DSB Wannabes
Wannabes stay bottom, but it’s now two wins in a row. Dave Corris put the home team ahead before Steve Finnegan showed up with his best display of the season, breaks of 30 and 24 to level the score. The next two frames were shared,both black ballers. Peter Kirkham of the Mob was set a very stiff task in the decider, defending a 100 percent record and chasing what would have been a record if successful, opponent Paul McKinstry starting 112 ahead. It wasn’t to be, Kirkham managed the highest break of the week, 48, but Mckinstry held on, final score 70-130. Other frame scores: William Hogg 44-61 Dave Corris, Steve Finnegan 109-74 David Callister, Lee Hunt 73-64 Harry Minor and Jonny Hogg 69-72 michael Creer.
