Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas Clash in New Musical Comedy ‘Power Ballad’

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Power Ballad, a new musical comedy starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. The film, which premiered at the 2026 Dublin International Film Festival, is set to release in theaters on June 5.

Synopsis

Power Ballad centers on Rick (Paul Rudd), a wedding singer whose prime may have passed, and Danny (Nick Jonas), a fading boy band star. The two musicians connect through music and a late-night jam session. Although, their budding friendship turns competitive when Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into a chart-topping hit, leading Rick to seek the recognition he believes he deserves, even if it means jeopardizing his personal life. The film is described as a “feel-good story about music, self-respect, friendship, and the price of ambition.”
