Hayley Williams of Paramore Launches Power Snatch with Daniel James, Cover of This Is Lorelei’s “Perfect Hand” Reveals New Collaboration

Paramore’s Hayley Williams and producer/instrumentalist Daniel James have formed a new musical duo called Power Snatch. Their debut collaboration is a cover of “Perfect Hand” by This Is Lorelei, previewing a “Super Deluxe” edition of This Is Lorelei’s 2024 album, Box for Buddy, Box for Star.

The Genesis of Power Snatch

According to a statement from Daniel James, the collaboration began with a shared admiration for This Is Lorelei, the solo project of Nate Amos of Water From Your Eyes. “We’ve both been fans of Nate’s for a long time, and loved getting to rework one of our favorite This Is Lorelei songs,” James explained. “His natural way with lyrics and melodies made it easy to translate the song to a different place for this project. It also happened to be the song that started Power Snatch.”

A Unique Grab on “Perfect Hand”

Power Snatch’s rendition of “Perfect Hand” is described as a “glitchy, percussive, heavy reimagining” featuring This Is Lorelei himself, with Williams’ vocals initially presented as a whisper before gaining volume and softening in tone. This Is Lorelei expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “getting to hear Hayley and Dan’s lovely take on ‘Perfect Hand’ for the first time was surreal, getting to contribute vocals was even more so. Couldn’t be more stoked for this to exist.”

“Box for Buddy, Box for Star (Super Deluxe)”

The “Super Deluxe” edition of Box for Buddy, Box for Star, due out April 17th via Double Double Whammy, will feature covers of every song on the original album. The project boasts an impressive lineup of contributing artists, including Waxahatchee, Sasami, Jeff Tweedy (with fantasy of a broken heart), and Snail Mail, alongside previously released covers from MJ Lenderman, Bob and Sarah Amos (Nate Amos’s father and sister), and others.

Power Snatch’s Background

Daniel James previously collaborated with Williams on her 2025 solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. Earlier this year, Williams and James officially launched Power Snatch with the release of their EP, EP1. Stereogum notes Williams’ established interest in Water From Your Eyes, stemming from a 2024 interview with Amos’ partner, Rachel Brown.
