Bobby’s presence immediately captivated attendees, who eagerly took photos with the presidential pet. The open house was well-attended by the public, who were eager to connect with President Prabowo following the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

A Lively Atmosphere at the Palace

The atmosphere at the Merdeka Palace was described as lively, with residents filling the presidential grounds. Enthusiasm peaked when President Prabowo entered the room, personally greeting guests, posing for selfies, and offering hugs.

Traditional Indonesian Cuisine

A variety of traditional Indonesian dishes were prepared to entertain the guests celebrating Eid al-Fitr. Residents began queuing as early as 9:00 AM to have the opportunity to meet President Prabowo.

Open House for the Public

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that the open house was specifically intended for the general public. President Prabowo intentionally excluded invitations to ministry or institutional officials, allowing them to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families. “He doesn’t want to be a hassle because there might be a family agenda or event. So this afternoon we are opening it specifically for the general public,” Hadi stated.

Bobby Kertanegara: A Presidential Pet

Bobby Kertanegara, a domestic shorthaired tabby, was adopted by Prabowo Subianto in 2017 after being found as a stray near his Jakarta residence. He quickly became a familiar figure during political events and on social media. Following Prabowo’s inauguration as President on October 20, 2024, Bobby moved into the Merdeka Palace.

Bobby’s presence at the palace and public events continues to generate positive attention and showcases a more personal side of the Indonesian presidency.
