Alexander Isak Returns To Seal Liverpool Comeback Against Brentford

Alexander Isak marked his return from injury by scoring the winner as Liverpool came from behind to defeat a nine-man Brentford side 2-1 in the Premier League. The victory lifted the Reds despite a misfiring first-half display that saw them trail to Keane Lewis-Potter’s opening goal on the stroke of the interval.

The fixture turned before the break when Brentford’s Yehor Yarmoliuk received a red card. Victor Munoz subsequently hauled Liverpool level after the restart, before Isak struck his fifth goal of the campaign to secure the points. Brentford later lost Vitaly Janelt to a second yellow card during stoppage time, capping a frantic afternoon.

Manchester City Holds Off Ipswich As Erling Haaland Scores Twice

Manchester City maintained their 100 per cent start to the Premier League campaign under new manager Enzo Maresca by defeating Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland scored twice to take his tally to 12 goals in all competitions, with Phil Foden also finding the net for the hosts.

The city side had to survive a nervy finish after Zian Flemming converted a 90th-minute penalty for the visitors, following an earlier equalizer from Daizen Maeda. The result keeps City six points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table, arriving shortly after the club were found guilty of serious breaches of financial regulations last month.

Aston Villa Defeats Newcastle United Through Johan Manzambi

Aston Villa secured a 1-0 away victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park courtesy of a first-half header from Johan Manzambi. The decisive goal arrived in the 36th minute from a player whom Villa managed to sign over the summer after he had looked set to join the Magpies.

Newcastle created opportunities to equalize through Sven Botman and Yoane Wissa in the second half, but the visitors held firm. The result moves Villa up to 12th place in the league standings, while condemning the Tynesiders to back-to-back league defeats.

Fulham Ends Winless Run Against Hull City At Craven Cottage

Fulham claimed their first victory under manager Alvaro Arbeloa by defeating Hull City 1-0 at Craven Cottage. Alex Iwobi scored the only goal of the match in the 33rd minute when his shot slipped through Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, lifting the home side out of the bottom three.

The afternoon ended on a sour note for the hosts when Ryan Sessegnon received a red card in the final seconds for leaving his studs on Robinio Vaz. Fulham had previously dropped eight points from winning positions this season, and missed further chances when Gonzalo Garcia headed against the crossbar from close range.
