MONTPELIER — Montpelier’s boys basketball team toppled Continental 75-36 in Saturday’s nonconference game at Montpelier High School.
CJ Fidler paced the Locos (17-2) with 22 points while Gavyn Bass, Wesley Hartsock and Kenneth Smeltzer each tallied 14 as the team shot 91 percent (10 of 11) from the foul line.
Reid Tegenkamp and Monty Rayle each tallied 14 points to lead the Pirates (4-14).
Montpelier next visits Fairview for nonconference action on Tuesday.
EDON — Edon’s boys basketball team bested Antwerp 55-45 in Saturday’s nonconference game at Edon High School.
Antwerp (3-17) was led by Zaine McMichael with a game-best 19 points as the Archers shot 100 percent (7 of 7) from the foul line.
Edon (13-7) was led to victory by Briggs Gallehue with 18 points while Corbin Chrisman was close behind with 17 and Kadin Stantz recorded nine.
The Bombers shot 72 percent (16 of 22) from the foul line.
Edon next hosts Montpelier for a chance to claim a share of the Buckeye Border Conference crown on Friday.
Ayersville 48, Stryker 45
STRYKER — Stryker’s boys basketball team fell to Ayersville 48-45 in Saturday’s nonconference game at Stryker High School.
Ayersville (12-6) was led by Dane Ewers with a game-best 29 points as the Pilots shot 57 percent (4 of 7) from the foul line.
Stryker (10-10) was led by William Donovan with 26 points while Eli Capps had nine as the Panthers shot 85 percent (6 of 7) from the foul line.
Stryker next visits nonconference foe Archbold on Tuesday.
Stryker 53, Ayersville 26
STRYKER — Stryker’s girls basketball team toppled Ayersville 53-26 for a nonconference win and extended the team’s win streak to eight straight on Saturday at Stryker High School.
Khloe Goebel paced the Panthers (17-3) with 18 points while Aubrey Clemens scored 12 and Grace Froelich had eight as the team shot 50 percent (5 of 10) from the foul line.
Kendyll Booher led the Pilots (6-15) with six points followed by Peyton Ensign with five and Hannah Alstaetter with four as the team shot 50 percent (7 of 14) from the free throw line.
Ayersville committed more turnovers with 19 compared to Stryker’s 15.
Stryker closes out the regular season with a chance to claim the Buckeye Border Conference crown outright when it hosts Fayette on Wednesday.
Montpelier 43, Continental 25
MONTPELIER — Montpelier’s girls basketball team beat Continental 43-25 in Saturday’s nonconference game at Montpelier High School.
Zoe Uribes piloted the Locos (2-17) with 22 points while Neriah Thorp had nine and Bella Ramos and Aislinn McGee each tallied four as the team shot 70 percent (14 of 20) from the free throw line.
Makenzie Shock fronted the Pirates (7-14) with 10 points followed by Morgan Shock and Olivia Crossgrove with five each as the team shot 38 percent (7 of 18) from the foul line.
Montpelier next hosts nonconference opponent Tinora on Thursday.
