Provence Rugby Dominates Grenoble in Resounding Victory
Provence Rugby started 2026 with a convincing 45-15 win against Grenoble at home in Aix-en-Provence, a stark contrast to a narrow defeat prior to the Christmas break. Playing on their synthetic pitch at the Maurice-David stadium,Philippe Saint-André’s team proved too strong for Grenoble throughout the entire 80 minutes.
Provence quickly took control, with Léo Drouet nearly scoring within the first minute. Drouet successfully touched down in the 6th minute, followed by tries from Wegrzyn (25th) and Lapegue (37th) before halftime, giving Provence a cozy 17-3 lead.
The second half saw Provence extend their dominance, securing an offensive bonus point with a try from Pifeleti shortly after the restart. Drouet added his second try of the match on a long counterattack,and Setareki Bituniyata notched his eighth try of the season.Provence ultimately scored seven tries in total.
Grenoble struggled to respond, managing only tries from Martel and Soury, and were hampered by yellow cards given to Louis Mary and Kveseladze.
With this victory,Provence Rugby moves into 2nd place in Pro D2,awaiting the results of Friday’s matches. The game was played in front of 8,000 spectators, and was officiated by Thibault Santamaria.
