Sony Tests Dynamic Pricing in PlayStation Store, Offering Discounts Up to 17.6%

PlayStation owners have noticed fluctuating prices for games in the PlayStation Store, and this isn’t a glitch. Sony is currently testing a dynamic pricing system, an experiment that began in November 2025 and has expanded to include over 150 games across more than 68 regions.

How Dynamic Pricing Works

Dynamic pricing means the price of a game can vary depending on the player’s geographic location. While a game might be listed at its standard price for one user, another user in a different region could spot a discounted price. This practice is becoming increasingly common across various digital marketplaces.

Reported Price Reductions

According to data from psprices, some games included in the test have experienced price reductions of up to 17.6%. Examples include:

  • WWE 2K25: Reduced from €74.99 to €61.82 (a 17.6% decrease)
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2: Listed at €58.35 instead of €69.99 (a 16.6% decrease)
  • Kingdom Arrive: Deliverance II: Dropped from €69.99 to €59.57 (a 14.9% difference)

First-Party Titles Also Included

The experiment isn’t limited to third-party games. Sony is also testing dynamic pricing on its own first-party titles, including:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Listed at an experimental price of €69.99 instead of €79.99 (approximately a 12.5% reduction)
  • God of War Ragnarok: Listed at an experimental price of €69.99 instead of €79.99 (approximately a 12.5% reduction)
  • Stellar Blade: Listed at an experimental price of €69.99 instead of €79.99 (approximately a 12.5% reduction)

Limited Experiment

Currently, the dynamic pricing system isn’t fully implemented across the entire PlayStation Store. Sony appears to be conducting a small-scale experiment to gauge player reaction and understand the impact of different pricing models before a wider rollout. The company has not yet announced any plans for a full-scale implementation.
