Rams Wide Receiver Puka Nacua Voluntarily Enters Rehab

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation program, his attorney, Levi McCathern, confirmed on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The decision comes before a lawsuit alleging assault and battery and the making of antisemitic statements was filed against him.

Details of Nacua’s Rehab Stay

Nacua began the program in early March at a holistic care facility in Malibu, California, according to McCathern. He has been attending the facility periodically since then. The center offers services for individuals addressing drug and alcohol addiction, chronic pain and mental health concerns CBS Sports.

Reasoning Behind the Decision

McCathern stated that Nacua’s decision to seek treatment is focused on personal growth and improving his overall well-being and performance. “Puka takes responsibility for his well-being and increasing his performance during the off-season,” McCathern said in a statement obtained by NFL Network NFL.com. “So, in early March – before any temporary restraining order was filed by Madison Atiabi and subsequently denied by the Court – Puka voluntarily entered a holistic care facility to focus on his personal growth.”

McCathern also noted that the timing of the rehab stay predates the recent lawsuit filed by Madison Atiabi, who alleges Nacua bit her and made an antisemitic comment on New Year’s Eve Rams Wire.

Impact on Rams’ Offseason Activities

The Rams anticipate Nacua will complete the program with ample time to participate fully in all of the team’s Organized Team Activities (OTAs) this spring Rams Wire. McCathern emphasized Nacua’s commitment to returning in the best possible condition, both personally and professionally, to continue contributing to the team.

Previous Apology

This is not the first instance of Nacua addressing public scrutiny. He previously issued an apology in December after performing a gesture that was interpreted as referencing antisemitic tropes during an internet livestream NFL.com.

Nacua has been a productive receiver for the Rams since being drafted in the fifth round out of BYU in 2023.
