Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004 is a Japanese light novel series written by Rocket Shōkai and illustrated by Mephisto. The series began as a web novel on Kakuyomu in October 2020 and was later published as a light novel by ASCII Media Works in September 2021. A manga adaptation followed in March 2022. The story centers around Xylo Forbartz, a former captain sentenced to serve as a “hero” – a criminal forced to fight against the Demon Blight. The anime adaptation premiered on January 3, 2026.
