Russian Sabotage Campaign Targets NATO Infrastructure Across Europe

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has personally ordered an intensified campaign of sabotage and covert operations against NATO member states, according to European officials reviewing US intelligence data reported by the Wall Street Journal. Moscow’s frustration grew through the summer after neither frontline military advances nor diplomatic talks with Washington forced Ukraine to accept Vladimir Putin’s demands. CIA Director John Ratcliffe recently briefed European intelligence chiefs and politicians on the escalating operations, warning that Moscow is intensifying sabotage operations against their countries.

Leipzig Airport Explosives Spark Continental Alert

The sabotage campaign gained public urgency on September 1, when German authorities formally accused Russia of attempting to carry out sabotage at Leipzig Airport. In August, investigators discovered an explosive-laden drone placed near a Ukrainian An-124 transport aircraft. Police deployed a robot to neutralize the explosives in the drone, while a second drone possibly collided with a nearby DHL company aircraft. Following the Leipzig incident, a Kremlin representative contacted a German government official to warn that the attack in Leipzig was not Moscow’s final operation, the Wall Street Journal reported.
