Qatar Launches QR500 E-commerce Licence for 194 Business Activities

The Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry has launched a low-cost e-commerce licence priced at QR500 to support 194 specific business activities conducted through digital platforms, according to an announcement reported by The Peninsula Qatar. Operating under Ministry Decision No. 25 of 2026, the initiative provides entrepreneurs and investors with a regulated framework to run digital operations directly from their own websites.

Scope of Approved Digital Business Activities

The new licensing framework encompasses 194 commercial activities tailored for modern digital business models. The licence also covers specialized fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) consulting and solutions, photography operations, and professional translation services. Officials state that the initiative aims to enhance trust and transparency in digital transactions while opening new avenues for both domestic and international entrepreneurs.

Regulatory Compliance and Domain Requirements

Businesses securing the QR500 licence must adhere to strict domain and hosting standards. Furthermore, domain registration must be completed through one of eight designated service providers officially regulated by the Communications Regulatory Authority.
