حمد بن خليفة بن حمد بن عبدالله بن قاسم بن محمد آل ثاني، قاد انقلابا ناعما على والده وصل بعده إلى سدة الحكم بالإمارة في 27 يونيو عام 1995، وتمكن من تثبيت أركان حكمه الإنقلابي والده أمير دولة قطر آنذاك، وطل في حكم البلاد حتى تنازله عن الحكم لابنه تميم بن حمد في 25 يونيو 2013.
