Quavo’s ‘Takeover’ to Feature Final Takeoff Performance

Quavo is set to star in the upcoming action thriller Takeover, premiering May 8, which will also include a posthumous appearance by the late Takeoff. This marks Takeoff’s final on-screen role following his tragic death in 2022.

Plot and Cast

In Takeover, Quavo plays Guy Miller, an ex-con navigating Atlanta’s underworld as he seeks redemption. The film follows Miller, formerly a prominent figure in the city’s street racing scene, as he’s drawn back into a life of crime after a high-stakes job goes awry. The synopsis details a chain reaction of events involving rival crews, law enforcement and hidden manipulators.

The film also stars Billy Zane, Serayah, LaMonica Garrett, and Martin Sensmeier. Zane portrays Gamal Akopyan, while Serayah plays Lt. Keisha Jenner and Garrett is Sheriff ‘Herc’ Hitchens. Sensmeier plays Hilario.

Takeoff’s Posthumous Role

Takeoff appears in the film thanks to groundbreaking hybrid animation technology developed by Trioscope, the studio behind the Netflix animated drama The Liberator. The circumstances surrounding Takeoff’s character, Vernon Miller, echo the real-life tragedy of his death in Houston in 2022, suggesting he may portray Guy Miller’s brother, who was killed during a robbery leaving behind two children that Guy ultimately becomes a father figure to.

Quavo’s Acting Career

Takeover represents Quavo’s most prominent acting role to date. He previously appeared in the 2025 casino thriller High Roller and the 2023 film Praise This alongside Chloe Bailey.

Production Details

Filming for Takeover began in September 2022 in Atlanta. Post-production was handled by Trioscope and CheckpointVFX. The film was acquired by sales agency 13 Films in April 2025 and screened at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
