Quiver Distribution Secures Rights to Dark Heist Comedy ‘Above the Line’
The indie film landscape is set for a new entry as Quiver Distribution has officially acquired North American rights to Above the Line, a dark heist comedy directed by Jeffrey Scott Collins. The film, which follows a group of ambitious Hollywood figures, is preparing for a strategic rollout following its festival circuit debut.
A Story of Hollywood Ambition
Above the Line centers on six Hollywood hopefuls who embark on a mission to steal the Best Picture awards from a producer they believe has wronged them. Filmmaker Jeffrey Scott Collins has described the project as a “twisted love letter” to the crime noir comedies of the 1990s, drawing thematic comparisons to iconic films like Swingers and Pulp Fiction.
“Above the Line explores the desperation and lengths people will go to ‘make it,’” Collins said in a statement. “It’s centered in a world where many people are relentlessly chasing their dreams, but at its heart, it’s about the deeply human need to feel important and to belong.”
Production and Cast
The film features an ensemble cast including Sophia Ali, Cedric the Entertainer, Gregg Henry, Reno Wilson, Jamie Lee, Dylan Playfair, Jackson Pace, and John Way. Behind the scenes, the project marks another collaboration between Collins and Cedric the Entertainer, who previously worked together on Poor Greg Drowning.

The screenplay was penned by Collins and Jono Matt. The production was a team effort, with Ian Michaels producing for Green Step Productions, alongside Kemma Filby and Walker Barnes for Seasick Studios, and Collins for This Seems Reel Entertainment. Cedric the Entertainer serves as an executive producer alongside Matt, Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, Lan Kisner, and the rapper Logic.
Release Strategy
Following its premiere last December at the Sun Valley Film Festival, the film is scheduled for a limited theatrical run. Audiences can expect a digital release via Quiver on June 26. The distribution deal was negotiated by Larry Greenberg on behalf of Quiver, while Clay Epstein of Film Mode Entertainment represented the filmmakers.
