Co-president Richard Catala recalls how the Fédération Française de Rugby (FFR) repeatedly toggled the start time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to account for heatwave warnings. That instability proved exhausting for players and staff alike.
To avoid a repeat, both clubs coordinated with the FFR to lock in the early start. By moving the fixture to the morning, teams hope to bypass the afternoon spike in temperature and ensure the match proceeds as planned.
A Season Culminating in the Morning Sun
This final represents the end of a grueling nine-month campaign for Rabastens, encompassing 27 official matches. While the physical toll is undeniable, the club is embracing the scheduling quirk as a chance to maximize their time together. “This day, which will be unlike anything we have experienced so far, must be memorable for our club,” said Richard Catala. “By playing so early, win or lose, we will have time to celebrate what needs to be celebrated.”
