Elegant Life Secures Victory in Happy Valley’s Conduit Handicap

Elegant Life emerged victorious in the Conduit Handicap, Race 1 at Happy Valley Racecourse on March 11, 2026. The race, for two-year-olds and up, covered a distance of 5 furlongs on a good turf track with 12 runners competing. The winning time was recorded at 56.63 seconds.

Race Recap & Key Incidents

The race was marked by several incidents, including bumping and crowding among horses. Elegant Life, ridden by L Ferraris, experienced a bump near the 900-meter mark. Post-race, a sample was taken from Elegant Life for analysis.

Happydearhappydeer, with A Badel as the jockey, was bumped on jumping. Further along the track, near the 900 meters, it became unbalanced when bumped by Sportic Warrior.

Island Breezes, ridden by C L Chau, made contact with Sportic Warrior near the 900-meter mark. Approaching the 800 meters, Island Breezes was steadied due to crowding between Sportic Warrior and Modest Gentleman. The jockey noted difficulty making up ground in the home stretch, attributing it to the rail position (C+3).

Several other horses experienced interference. Nebraskan was bumped at the start. Spicy Spangle jumped only fairly. King Alloy’s jockey, R Kingscote, received a reprimand for careless riding near the 200-meter mark, allowing his mount to shift in and crowd Spicy Spangle.

Robot Knight jumped awkwardly and was bumped near the 900 meters. Always My Folks was bumped by Robot Knight and similarly near the 100-meter mark, racing wide and without cover for much of the event. Macanese Master made contact with Always My Folks near the 100-meter mark.

Modest Gentleman, ridden by M Chadwick, was bumped at the start and momentarily crowded near the 800 meters. The horse also had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400 and 300-meter marks while attempting to move to the outside of Elegant Life.

Sportic Warrior was bumped on jumping and involved in a chain of contact near the 900 meters, contributing to the unbalancing of Happydearhappydeer. Camp Fire was steadied near the 900 meters to avoid Elegant Life.
