Austrian Investor Acquires Donegal’s Radisson Blu Hotel Letterkenny for Over €16 Million

The Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny, County Donegal, has been sold to the TMR Hotel Collection, a portfolio owned by Austrian investor Thomas Roggla, in a deal exceeding €16 million. The 114-bedroom hotel, operated by the Byrne family since its opening in 2003, marks the second Donegal property to join the TMR Hotel Collection.

Family Ownership and Transition

The Radisson Blu Hotel Letterkenny has been a family-run business for 23 years, developed by Paul Byrne and his father in 2003. Paul Byrne expressed delight at the sale, thanking loyal customers, guests, and staff for their support over the past two decades. He specifically acknowledged the long-serving team members who have been with the hotel since its inception.

“We owe our deepest thanks to our many loyal customers, guests, and friends. Thank you for your trust, support and unforgettable shared memories throughout the years,” Byrne stated.

TMR Hotel Collection Expansion

The TMR Hotel Collection already includes Harvey’s Point in Donegal Town, the Cavan Crystal Hotel, and Farnham Estate in Cavan. The Impartial Reporter notes that this acquisition is the third hotel acquired by Thomas Röggla in the last 14 months.

Continued Operation and Future Plans

The hotel will continue to operate under the Radisson Blu Hotel Letterkenny name, maintaining its affiliation with the Radisson Hotel Group and offering benefits to members. Byrne expressed confidence that the TMR Hotel Collection will ensure the hotel’s continued success as part of their network of four and five-star hotels throughout Ireland.

“It now gives us great comfort to hand over the hotel to the prestigious and highly respected TMR Hotel Collection, who will ensure that it continues to thrive and prosper as part of their large network of 4 and 5-star hotels throughout Ireland,” Byrne added.

Clark Hill Law, Crowe Ireland, and CBRE Ireland provided guidance throughout the sale process. Donegal News reports that Radisson Hotel Group and Joep Peeters also provided support during the transaction.
