Manchester United Hosts Historic Ramadan Iftar at Old Trafford

Manchester United recently hosted a historic Ramadan Iftar at Old Trafford, marking a significant step in the club’s inclusivity efforts. The event, held on Tuesday evening, blended faith, football and community under the floodlights of the iconic stadium Daily Sabah.

A First-of-Its-Kind Event

Organized by the Manchester United Muslim Supporters Club (MUMSC) in partnership with the club, the Iftar welcomed approximately 80 fans selected via ballot, along with special guests. Notably, this year’s event was the first time the Adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, was recited across the stands at Old Trafford Daily Sabah.

Breaking the Fast and Communal Prayer

Fans broke their fast as the Adhan rang out, followed by Qur’an recitations and communal prayers led by English Qur’an reciter Ibrahim Idris Daily Sabah. The event drew mixed reactions from fans, with some celebrating the inclusivity and others questioning the appropriateness of religious observances within a football venue Pulse Sports.

Notable Attendees

Moroccan international defender Noussair Mazraoui, who joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich in 2024, attended the Iftar and openly observed Ramadan.
