Davante Adams Sidelined With Hamstring Injury
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams faces a recovery timeline of six to 10 weeks due to a significant hamstring strain, head coach Sean McVay announced on Monday. The injury compounds a mounting physical toll for the Rams, who hold a 2-4 record and have dropped three of their last four games following early-season expectations as Super Bowl contenders.
Injury Cascades Through Rams Roster
Adams sustained the non-contact injury during the final offensive sequence of Sunday’s 18-16 defeat against the Arizona Cardinals, pulling up in the end zone before limping to the sideline. The 33-year-old receiver leads the team this season with 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns over 13 years in the NFL. McVay addressed the offensive adjustment in a statement reported by The Associated Press, noting that replacing a target of his caliber requires structural shifts rather than a direct swap.
McVay said it is important not to have a player like Davante, but the team must be able to adjust. He emphasized that the contributions of such a player cannot be measured and that replacing someone like him requires figuring out the next correct steps, according to The Associated Press.
Beyond Adams, the Rams lost veteran defensive tackle Poona Ford for the remainder of the year due to a torn triceps. Defensive tackle Kobie Turner is heading to the injured reserve list with a groin injury after playing significantly more defensive snaps than Ford this season. Newly acquired kicker Blake Grupe tore a knee ligament while making a tackle during kickoff coverage, forcing Los Angeles to seek its third kicker of the year ahead of a matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Depth Concerns and Upcoming Schedule
The loss of Adams strains an offense that lacks proven depth behind him and All-Pro Puka Nacua. Konata Mumpfield currently ranks third among Rams wideouts with just eight receptions for 127 yards, highlighting the same lack of a reliable number three receiver that hampered the passing game last season. Meanwhile, cornerback Trent McDuffie is recovering from a training injury that kept him out against Arizona, with his availability against Las Vegas to be determined later in the week, as The Associated Press reported.
