Cork City Centre Transforms Into Motorsport Track For Red Bull Homerun
Cork city centre will host a major motorsport celebration this Saturday night as two-time drifting champion Conor Shanahan returns home for the Oracle Red Bull Racing tour. The public street showcase brings Formula One machinery directly into the urban core of Cork. Fans lining the route will see the championship-winning RB7 alongside Shanahan driving his Toyota GT86.
The Championship Pedigree Of The RB7
The Oracle Red Bull Racing RB7 stands out as one of the most dominant Formula One cars ever built. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber drove the RB7 to victory in 12 of the 19 races during the 2011 season, claiming all but one pole position. That performance secured both the Formula One constructors’ and drivers’ World Championships for the team. The vehicle anchors the Red Bull Homerun tour alongside modern drifting exhibitions.
Conor Shanahan Returns To His Roots
Conor Shanahan enters Saturday’s homecoming event fresh from an impressive season in the 2026 Drift Masters championship. The 23-year-old Killavullen native began his motorsport career at nine years of age in the Irish Amateur Drift Championship. At age 13, he attracted wider attention with an appearance on The Grand Tour.
Shanahan went on to become the youngest driver to win British, Irish, and European professional drifting events. In 2023, he secured his first Drift Masters title after a season-long battle, sealing the championship at the Grand Finale in Warsaw, Poland, in front of 53,000 spectators.
Cork City Centre Motorsport Show Begins Saturday Evening
The Cork city centre motorsport show begins at 8pm on Saturday on the South Mall and runs until 9.30pm. Road closures affect South Mall and Anglesea Street to accommodate the purpose-built track. Spectators can view the action from designated public areas along the street circuit as Shanahan and guest drivers demonstrate high-performance vehicle handling.
