Fans choose Queensland Reds Legends XV – Voting Still Open!
Queensland Reds fans are being given the chance to select the greatest team from the professional era (1996-present), and voting is currently underway! The initiative, sponsored by XXXX, allows supporters to pick one player from five nominees for each position in a historic Reds Legends XV.
Early results show some clear favourites, with 1999 Rugby World Cup-winning captain John Eales leading the polls and considered “untouchable” for one of the lock positions.
However, other positions are proving more competitive. The outside center spot is tightly contested between jason Little (37% of votes), Daniel Herbert (33%), and Samu Kerevi (23%). Little established himself as a key player for the Reds before 1996, while Herbert was widely regarded as the best outside centre of the late 1990s. Kerevi has more recently impressed as a powerful centre for both the Reds and the Wallabies.
At tighthead prop, Taniela Tupou and Greg Holmes are both attracting significant support.
Fans can participate by using the easy-to-use Legends XV Selector tab available here. The voting period considers over 350 Reds players, encompassing the team’s 2011 Super Rugby triumph and the 2021 Super Rugby AU title win, which saw over 40,000 fans pack Suncorp Stadium.
Other intriguing positional battles include:
* Hooker: A comparison between the precision of Michael Foley (1990s) and fellow Wallabies Sean Hardman, Stephen Moore, Saia Faingaa, and modern player Matt Faessler.
The Legends XV Selector tab provides a running total of votes for each position.
This exciting vote is also happening across all 11 Super Rugby Pacific clubs. From Monday, February 9th, the winners from each Club Legends XV will compete to determine Super Rugby’s overall Legends XV, with fans again voting for the greatest player in each position across the three decades of Super Rugby.
Don’t miss your chance to shape the ultimate Queensland Reds team! VOTE NOW AND SELECT YOUR REDS LEGENDS XV THANKS TO XXXX
