Latvian artist Reiks is launching a new musical era with his upcoming album FUJI, introduced by the single “Jūtas ir dzīvas“. Released through AMFO studio, the track represents a spontaneous creative shift that abandons strict genre boundaries.
The Spontaneous Creation of “Feelings Are Alive”
Reiks originally arrived at AMFO studio with plans to work on an entirely different composition. During the session alongside producer heywhosthatkid, Mo, and other musicians, a new idea emerged that gradually evolved into “Jūtas ir dzīvas”. Describing the process, the team noted that entering the studio with a specific plan often leads to unexpected and more interesting results. Throughout its development, the song underwent multiple changes to its arrangement, details, and chorus before reaching its final version. The track was produced by heywhosthatkid, with contributions from Mo, Starins, and Misters Krūmiņš.
Japanese Influence and the Upcoming Album FUJI
“Feelings Are Alive” sets the stage for Reiks’ upcoming album, FUJI, where the musician plans to discard strict genre lines and merge various musical experiences and influences. The album has been heavily shaped by Reiks’s recent experience in Japan, where the culture, environment, and emotions served as direct inspiration for this new phase. This Japanese influence extends directly to the music: “Jūtas ir dzīvas” will also be released in a Japanese-language version, marking one of the artist’s first steps into experimenting with the language and exploring Japan’s cultural landscape.
