Schubert Motorsport Aims for DTM Crown with Wittmann and Van der Linde
Munich – Schubert Motorsport is gearing up for the 2026 DTM season with a driver lineup featuring two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann and returning racer Kelvin van der Linde, piloting two BMW M4 GT3 EVO cars. The team is determined to build on its near-miss in the 2025 season and reclaim the DTM crown.
Van der Linde Returns, Replacing Rast
Kelvin van der Linde returns to the DTM after a one-year break, taking over from René Rast. Van der Linde previously finished third overall in the 2021 season and was the runner-up in 2024.1
Wittmann Enters 14th DTM Season
Marco Wittmann is set to begin his 14th season in the DTM with BMW M Motorsport.1 He finished fifth in the 2025 drivers’ standings and aims to improve on that result this year. Wittmann has already secured two DTM drivers’ titles, in 2014 and 2016.2
BMW Motorsport Focused on Championship Title
Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport, emphasized the team’s determination to win the championship. “After the dramatic season finale in 2025, we still have a score to settle with the DTM,” Roos stated. “We were so close to winning the title that we are even more motivated to do better this year. I am convinced that with the successful combination of vehicle, team and drivers we have the optimal conditions for the fight for the DTM crown.”1
Schubert Motorsport’s Recent Success
Schubert Motorsport previously claimed the DTM crown in 2022 (drivers’ and team titles) and again in 2024 (team title).1 The team narrowly missed out on the title in 2025, with Rast eliminated from contention due to an accident and Wittmann finishing fifth in the standings.
Van der Linde Eager to Return
Kelvin van der Linde expressed his enthusiasm about rejoining the DTM. “The DTM is a very special championship for me. It was always my childhood dream to drive there and win races. I have achieved both, but the big goal still remains: to win the DTM title,” he said.2 He also highlighted the significance of joining Schubert Motorsport, following in the footsteps of his brother, Sheldon van der Linde, who won the 2022 DTM title with the team.
