Resident Evil Requiem Dominates Steam Charts, Signals Strong Series Momentum

Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27, 2026, as the ninth mainline installment in Capcom’s acclaimed horror franchise, and quickly achieved remarkable success on Steam. The game rapidly climbed to the top of the platform’s best-selling charts and garnered impressive player counts within hours of release.

Peak Player Counts and Steam Dominance

At its launch day peak, Resident Evil Requiem reached 320,056 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB. As of February 28, 2026, the player count has remained consistently high, not dropping below 230,000, and fluctuating between 260,000 and 290,000 players. This performance significantly surpasses previous Resident Evil titles on Steam.

Resident Evil Requiem is currently the most successful Resident Evil game on Steam, exceeding the player count of Resident Evil 4 by nearly 100% and leading Resident Evil Village by approximately 114,000 players.

Multi-Platform Availability and Performance

The game’s success isn’t limited to Steam. Resident Evil Requiem is available on a wide range of platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and the Epic Games Store on PC. Notably, the game is reported to run well on the Steam Deck, with some players achieving frame rates as high as 60 FPS on lower quality settings, as highlighted by PC Gamer. This performance is attributed to Capcom’s RE Engine, which is known for its scalability, and optimization.

Pre-Order Bonuses and Special Editions

Prior to its release, Resident Evil Requiem was available for pre-order on multiple platforms. Ordering through the Epic Games Store granted players a Grace Ashcroft Fortnite skin and other bonus content, as announced by Capcom. Deluxe and steelbook deluxe editions included additional costumes, weapon skins, charms, screen filters, and a custom sound pack.

New Hardware and Merchandise

Alongside the game’s launch, Nintendo released an original Resident Evil Requiem-themed Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. Capcom as well announced plans to release a Grace Ashcroft Amiibo figure in Summer 2026. A Resident Evil Generation Pack for the Nintendo Switch 2, containing Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition, and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, is also available.

Looking Ahead

The strong launch of Resident Evil Requiem demonstrates the continued popularity and strength of the Resident Evil franchise. With its multi-platform availability, impressive performance, and engaging content, Requiem is poised to become a significant success for Capcom and a defining title in the horror genre.
