“Respectful” Thief Robs Dental Clinic in Conchalí, Chile

A robbery with an unusual twist unfolded at a dental clinic in Conchalí, a commune in the Metropolitan region of Chile, this Friday. The thief, although armed, reportedly displayed a surprising level of politeness during the commission of the crime.

Details of the Robbery

According to reports from La Tarde es Nuestra, the suspect entered the clinic and requested the cell phones of the dentist and a staff member. Witnesses described the thief as saying, “Please, I’m begging you. Pass me your cell phone!” while brandishing a weapon.

Despite the threats, the thief maintained a respectful tone, repeatedly saying “Pass me your phone, please.” However, after realizing there was no cash on the premises – the clinic primarily accepts transfers and card payments – the situation escalated. The thief then locked the two employees in a bathroom for approximately 15 minutes while he searched the clinic, including the wine cellar.

The thief ultimately stole the employees’ cell phones, backpacks, documents, and keys.

A clinic worker, speaking to La Tarde es Nuestra while protecting her identity, described the event as “shocking” and “traumatic.” The dentist was reportedly particularly affected and has temporarily suspended patient appointments.

The worker recounted the thief entering the clinic, apologizing, and then producing a gun to demand their phones. She stated that when the thief discovered there was no money available, he ordered them to lock themselves in the bathroom, pointing the gun at them in the process.
