Resto BD Event Returns to Ayguades with 13 Authors and Charity Focus

The 9th edition of Resto BD, a charity event pairing bande dessinée (BD) artists with a restaurant in Ayguades, will take place on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, hosted at Les Vents d’Anges, features 13 authors creating original comic strips on-site for sale, with proceeds benefiting the 2000 BD charity, which supports hospitalized children, according to the event’s official website.

Renowned and Emerging Artists Attend

Confirmed participants include veteran artists such as Jean-Luc Garrera (Les Oiseaux), Erroc (Les Profs), and Rudy (Les 2 CV et Idéfix). Newcomers this year include Michel Rodrigue, who has taken over the Cubitus series, and Alain Janolle, known for Arsène Lupin contre Sherlock Holmes. Serge Henz, author of Boule à zéro, will also attend, as 2000 BD is the charity he supports this year.

Event Structure and Charitable Goal

The weekend includes live drawing sessions, book signings, and the creation of exclusive BD panels. Organizers emphasize the event’s dual purpose: offering fans direct access to artists and raising funds for 2000 BD, which provides comics and creative activities to children in hospitals. “This event bridges the gap between artists and their audience while contributing to a meaningful cause,” said a representative for the charity.

History and Impact of Resto BD

Now in its ninth year, Resto BD has become a staple for BD enthusiasts in the region. Previous editions have raised over €50,000 for 2000 BD, according to the charity’s 2023 annual report. The event’s format—combining dining, art, and philanthropy—has been cited as a model for similar initiatives in France, with local media highlighting its “unique blend of culture and community support.”
